WorldStrides: About Discovery for Credit

The Discovery for Credit program provides students the opportunity to extend their travel experiences and deepen the learning achieved while on their WorldStrides, BGA, or Heritage Festivals educational trip. This fantastic learning experience is provided to all  travelers who participate on our programs.

The Discovery for Credit program provides students the freedom to learn at their own speed, dig deeper into the subjects that interest them, and help them prepare for their future, all at the same time. 

It is permissible to begin the Discovery for Credit program before a WorldStrides, BGA, or Heritage Festivals trip is taken, but it cannot be completed until after the students return.  The entire program must be completed within 6 months of the final day of the trip in order to be eligible for credit. 

• This supplemental travel course is fully accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools (NAAS).
• This online course requires a high degree of learning independence on the part of students.
• There are 6 topics for students to investigate. Each topic requires students to read the directions, conduct investigations, complete various activities to document their work, and pass a final written critique in order to demonstrate what has been learned.
• It is estimated that each topic will take a few hours to complete. The reading levels required are middle school and high school level.
