About Discovery for Credit

The Discovery for Credit program provides students the opportunity to extend their travel experiences and deepen the learning achieved while on their WorldStrides, BGA, or Heritage Festivals educational program. 

The Discovery for Credit program provides students the freedom to learn at their own speed, dig deeper into the subjects that interest them, and help them prepare for their future.

It is permissible to begin the Discovery for Credit program before a WorldStrides, BGA, or Heritage Festivals trip is taken, but it cannot be completed until after the students return.  The entire program must be completed within 6 months of the final day of the trip in order to be eligible for credit. 

• This supplemental travel course is fully accredited by all the regional accrediting agencies in the United States (see About>Accreditation).
• This online course requires a high degree of learning independence on the part of students.
• It is estimated that each topic will take a few hours to complete. The reading levels required are middle school and high school level. 
• It is expected that all students will adhere to an appropriate level of academic honesty in their online research and written responses. Discovery for Credit instructors reserve the right to ask a student to re-do an assignment or assign a failing grade on assignments for which students do not cite their sources or directly copy-paste from existing websites.
